15-5 Stainless Steel Round BarA-564. 15-5 Stainless Steel bar is similar to 17-4 PH, but also has superior toughness and transverse ductility. Along with attributes such as high strength and hardness, excellent corrosion resistance, good fabricating characteristics and low temperature hardening, 15-5 PH Stainless Steel round bar can be forged, welded and formed. Machining is performed in the solution-annealed state, followed by precipitation hardening. While the hardening occurs over a range of temperatures, ductility and strength can be adjusted to achieve a range of mechanical properties. Primary Elements: The composition of 15-5 PH Stainless Steel Round Bar includes small or trace amounts of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, columbium plus tantalum, silicon and sulphur, between 2.5 and 4.5 percent copper, between 3.5 and 5.5 percent nickel, between 14 and 15.5 percent chromium, with the balance being iron. Stainless Steel 15-5 PH is a martensitic grade of stainless steel. Martensitic stainless steels were designed as a type of stainless steel alloy that could be hardened by heat treatment and would be corrosion resistant. As mentioned earlier, Stainless Steel grade 15-5 PH has excellent corrosion resistance and also delivers high strength and hardness.
