C276 Hastelloy™ Alloy Bars

C276 has outstanding corrosion resistant properties, allowing for its use in a broad range of corrosive settings and is particularly resistant to crevice corrosion and pitting. Hastelloy C276 displays tremendous resistance to many acids, including sulfuric, acetic, phosphoric, formic, nitric, hydrochloric and hydrofluoric compounds, as well as ammonium and zinc chlorides.

Hastelloy C276 can be impact extruded, forged and hot upset forged. Although the alloy tends to work-harden, Hastelloy C276 can be successfully press formed, spun, punched, or deep-drawn; however, C276 does have a tendency to work harden. Hastelloy C276 can be welded using welding methods such as gas metal-arc, resistance welding, gas tungsten-arc, or shielded metal-arc. Two methods that are not recommended are submerged arc welding and oxyacetylene welding - these techniques are not suggested when the component is to be used in a corrosive environment. Excessive heat input should also be avoided. Welding methods such as gas metal-arc, resistance welding, gas tungsten-arc, or shielded metal-arc can be employed. Applying minimum heat input combined with sufficient penetration can reduce hot cracking. To avoid the possibility of carburization, oxyacetylene welding should not be used.

Primary Elements: Hastelloy C276 Nickel Alloy is comprised of Nickel, Molybdenum, Chromium, Iron and Tungsten and is used in extremely corrosive environments
